Gene Hackman's Mysterious Death: New Timeline Details Emerge After Actor, Wife, and Dog Found Dead

The deaths of award-winning actor Gene Hackman, his wife Betsy Arakawa, and their dog remain shrouded in uncertainty.

Santa Fe County Sheriff's deputies discovered the couple and their dog deceased at their New Mexico home on Wednesday, and authorities continue to investigate the cause, which is currently considered "suspicious." A search warrant affidavit revealed that Arakawa's body was partially mummified, and multiple dogs were found alive. Further details are expected in the coming weeks.

New information about the timeline of their deaths is also emerging. Santa Fe County Sheriff Adam Mendoza told the Today show on Friday that, based on their bodies and other evidence, it appears they had been deceased for several days or even up to a couple of weeks. He acknowledged the difficulty of establishing an exact timeline due to the couple's private lifestyle.

Mendoza noted there was no indication of movement within the house, making it difficult to determine whether they passed away simultaneously or at different times. However, he expressed confidence that no foul play was involved, though authorities are not ruling it out.

"The autopsy report will be key to the investigation," Mendoza stated.

The Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office is expected to provide updates during a press conference on Friday afternoon.

As the mystery surrounding Hackman and Arakawa's deaths deepens, here’s what we know so far.
